Roles & Responsibilities

Manages large (millions of records) and/or complex datasets. Demonstrates understanding of applied data science fundamentals, such as SQL-based data warehouse concepts and technologies.
Engages in accessing, cleansing, and validating data from multiple data sources. Prepares datasets for statistical analysis using R and/or SAS.Β 
Translates clinical questions into appropriate queries, ideally in SQL, Python, and/or R. Meticulously performs and documents code for data analysis, visualization, transformation, and modeling.
Conducts ad-hoc quantitative analysis, data mining, and data visualization employing a variety of analytical techniques to provide valuable insight for clinical decision-making.
Creates and updates visualizations using software including Power BI, PowerPoint, and Tableau.
Utilizes statistical methodologies and techniques to conduct hypothesis testing, classification, regression, clustering, feature allocation/selection, and time-series analysis.
Independently summarizes and delivers results of data management and analysis work to research team(s) in readable, presentation-ready reports.

Education
Bachelor’s Degree

Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in related field. Post-graduate professional studies desirable.Β 

Approximately 5 years’ experience in a quantitative field with published evidence of impact in data science applied to real life problems ideally within a clinical or research environment.Β 

Approximately 5 years’ experience as a Data Analyst with experience in each of the below areas.

Strong working experience with electronic health records, billing/insurance claim data and programming with SQL, Python, R and/or SAS is required.Β 

Experience with semi-structured/unstructured data environments, machine learning, and natural language processing (NLP) desired.Β 

Experience with clinical information systems (e.g., EHRs, computerized order entry) and/or clinical data (e.g., encounters, lab results, medications, diagnoses, procedures, claims) highly desired.

Knowledge of biomedical vocabularies, terminologies, and ontologies (e.g., SNOMED, LOINC, RxNorm, ICD, CPT) preferred.

Experience with i2b2, OMOP CDM, PCORnet or other common healthcare data models a plus.

Experience working with large datasets (millions of records) and PostgreSQL databases beneficial.

Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and develop proficiency with unfamiliar toolsets.
Experience using Microsoft suite of products including Excel, PowerPoint & OneDrive.
